These projects reduce emissions by operating on cleaner natural gas as fuel rather than more CO2 intensive emitting fossil fuels such as coal.

The electricity generated will then replace some of the generation of the traditional fossil fuel based power plant.

Gas-based power plants do not produce huge amounts of solid waste, such as ash, and consume less water than coal-based power plants, due to the use of air cooled condensers rather than water cooled condensers.

The projects will also create local employment.
